So, you always hear, "Oh,Kids! They say the darndest things!"
The other day I had just came out of the shower to Eva sitting on the potty. I continued to do my daily preperation routine and then I hear her little voice ask, "Mommy, where's my boobies?" Ummmm.... Not so ready to have this conversation with my 2 1/2 year old, I respond quickly, "You have boobies, Eva.." She then lifts up her pyjama top to have a look and see if I what I was saying was true.
I then hear, "Yeah, but these little boobies, Mommy!" This kid is not giving up! So I say in a sweet little Mommy voice, "Eva, your boobies are little now BUT, one day you will have big boobies." Responce - "Like Papa?!"
This is insulting for Mommy and Papa!!

Sleeping on the job.
. I'm sure that all Mothers, Fathers, Mammies, Pappies and anyone else who has had children could write a book on all the funny, embarrassing, horrific and down right dirty things that their children has done. Well, I've decided to share my most recent story because it's too good to keep to my self!
To start off with, I never nap when Eva does. Better yet, I never nap. So it's nap time for Eva and Adrien and I fall asleep watching a movie down stairs on the couch. GASP!! "EVA!!" I jump up and head for the stairs to find my little Princess sitting on a pile of books. That would be the books from the library so you can imagine how many books I'm talking about. Coloring her blocks with a marker which she had previously used to color her arms (left and right), legs (left and right) face and books....
I can't be mad at her even though she knows that markers are to stay on paper because I feel in the wrong for being asleep.. Calmly I remove the marker from her multi colored hand and start picking up the mountain of books. Looking up into my bed room I see that all the cleaning I had done earlier had been "undone". Pillows, sheets, clothes and shoes all on the floor! Twitch. Twitch.
"Eva, you did lots of playing while Mommy was asleep. What else did you play with?" Off to Eva's room we go only to find 100 bobby pins, a million hair bows and every single one of her furry friends on the floor. I keep telling my self that this is what I deserve for sleeping on the job so I put a smile back on my face and get to work. "Mommy, I gotta use the potty..." To the bath room she goes while I'm still hard at work...
Now, I have to take you back to this morning before nap time. I had just bought some Veet wax strips and had decided to try them out before getting in the shower. So if your not familiar with this product (which worked quite well BTW), it's 2 strips held together with wax and you pull them apart to make 2 wax strips which then can be used in your desired area...
"EHHHH!! Mommy, it hurts!! " I look up to find Eva walking back into her room like a duck, where I still am picking up bobby pins, with one strip on her va-jay-jay and one completely wrapped around each hand.

The "Big Girl Bed"
So, Eva is 29 months old now and we felt that it was time to get her the "Big Girl Bed". After trying all the beds in IKEA for about an hour, we finally left with one and then some..
The bed is up and sooo cute! Beautiful white wooden bed, bright pink little bed set covered in multi colored hearts, big fluffy pillows and ten of Eva's favorite furry friends. She just loved it!!! So whats the problem?? THE KID WON'T STAY IN IT!!!!
This is her first nap in her new bed so after putting her back in the bed 10 times I decided to stay in the room until she fell asleep. Well it worked but I'm not doing this every day! I did a little research and from what I read, the best thing to do is to be repetitive and without much talking but the child back in the bed. Do this as many times as it takes because if the child knows that it's playing with your emotions they will continue to get out of the bed. SOOO tonight I will see how this goes.

Potty Time!!
My sweet little Princess is only 19 months old and is already telling me when she wants to go potty!!!!!!!!!!
She is growing up way too fast!! I am so proud of her but I'm scared to see whats next!
I would give you fellow Mommies some tips... but really, it's all her!
I leave the potty where she can see it and just started asking her when I would change her dippar if she needed to potty and sure enough... now she's telling me!!

Terrible 1's
So, we have all heard of the "Terrible Two's", but for me, they have came a little early!!
Little Miss Eva, also known as The Little Monster, started strongly about a month ago. I get anything from a no, refusing to eat, to a full blown raging temper tantrum! I know, poor me! So, at first not knowing what to do with this child, I would simply ignore her. This clearly made everything worse! She would get even more mad and the fit would last even longer!
After about the millionth temper tantrum, I realized that I had to try something else or I was going to lose it!! So what did I do??
TIME OUT!! I know, crazy to think time out for a 14 month old but, i had to try something!
Here is what I did... When she started getting mad because she was not getting what she wanted, I would stop what I was doing, pick her up and put her in time out (on the couch, in her bed if she continued to not listen) come down to her level so we were eye to eye and calmly speak to her and explain why she couldn't have or do what she wanted then I would walk away. Every time she would get up, I would calmly put her back and tell her again, Ÿou can't do this and when your calm you can get up..."
It took about 30 times but finally she started getting the picture. Slowly the temper tantrums shortened and she knows that no means no.
It is important when doing this that you stay calm and stick with it. Other wise it is pointless and the child is more confused.

Me TIME
Here are some great ME TIME ideas that really work for me.
-Hot bubble bath (warn Papa that this means do not disturb unless house in on fire)
-Tanning (tan fat is prettier than white fat girls)
-Walking (if you just popped one out, start slow)
-Mani/Pedi (always makes your fingers look better in dish water)
-Mommy support groups
-Exercise class (yoga or spin are my fav)
-College course (I know you think its work, but its good to see other faces)
-Shopping (My fav :D)
Now, I know that in order to do these things it requires leaving the baby which can be extremely hard! Don't worry, the baby will be fine! Leave Dad everything that he could possibly need in any possible event along with your number on speed dial. Don't lecture him too much because there is a good change his feelings will get hurt because you don't think he knows what he is doing... But, he has seen you do it enough and watched all your demonstrations! He’s got it under control!
I know, Mama does it best!!

First Things First..
Bringing the baby home is sooo exciting!! You have waited 9 long months for this little bundle of joy and now you finally have it! Along with tons of company, a million phone calls, a jiggly belly, dirty dippers, cute little baby, feeding schedule, huge boobies, hair loss, no sleep, depression... the list can go on and on.. did I mention beautiful baby, jello belly and everyone telling you how you should do things???
The most important advice I received was, Sleep when the baby sleeps or you'll never survive!
This is so true and crucial ladies! The laundry, bottles, dishes and telephone will be there when you wake up!! For me, I did not follow this advice until it was too late. I was busy little homemaker, had to have everything perfect and ready for when the man came home. I did not have any mommy time or what I prefer to call - ME TIME! This is so important to have! How are you going to take care of someone else if you can't take care of your self?

For the New Mommies
I have a lot of friends that just popped out little ones so what better way to share my little bit of mommy/baby knowledge than by blogging about my "First Year Experiments".... I'm no professional but I do have a little experience under my belt now and I know what worked for me and what didn't.
I'll post regularly some tips on what to expect as a young Mama with a little one and how I managed to survive...
